Recipe of the Day: Nutmeg Butter

This simple, delightful spread pairs beautifully with most seasonal fall scones and looks luscious on any tea table!

Ingredients:
  • 2 sticks of salted butter, softened
  • 2 tsp confectioner's sugar
  • 1 tsp hot water
  • 1 tsp ground nutmeg*
  • fresh nutmeg to garnish

Instructions:

In a stand mixer, whip butter on med high just until a uniform consistency is reached.

In a separate bowl, combine confectioner's sugar, ground nutmeg and water.

Reduce the mixer speed to low and add the sugar/nutmeg mixture to the butter until fully incorporated.

Garnish with freshly-grated nutmeg and serve immediately or refrigerate** until needed. This spread can be made a day or two ahead.

*Alternative: substitute pumpkin pie spice for the nutmeg.*

**Add a bit of flair by piping nutmeg butter in cute rosettes on wax paper and refrigerate until ready to serve.**

Recipe serves 4-6.
